Robert Lee Davis creates sensitive and deeply personal cinematic collaged paintings using old postcards, discarded letters and reclaimable print materials, suspending history in a dreamlike state.

Each piece is an immersive recreation of global landscapes and structures that deconstruct memory and experiences to craft imagined worlds that are at once familiar and yet foreign.

Born in Virginia, Robert Lee Davis is a Melbourne based artist who has lived and worked out of numerous countries around the world. These include but are not limited to: China, Egypt, the U.S., the U.K., and Australia. Robert has learned a thing or two from his travels, but one thing that has stuck with him is his passion for art. Since a small age he has always had this talent and explains his journey of fighting against the stereotypes of being a starving or a depressed artist. He shares his story of how art not only became his life, but how his life became art.

Small Wonders/The Places We No Longer Go was an installation project funded through the generous support of the City of Melbourne cove-19 Arts Grant. The project involved the creation and installation of postage size artwork around Melbourne CBD in the cracks, crevices and pavings of places we no longer go. The artworks were posted and numbered as they were installed. This temporary exhibit highlighted the stillness that surrounds our city as a result of COVID-19.
